To a few of my postings looking for information as to,

what happen if you do not show up for the native American naming ceremony?

If when you say ‘you’ it was me that did not show, I had better have a real good reason or I will be spending a lot more time on my knees for forgiveness. Losing a lot of Kinnick, Kinnick would also be taking place.

Thank you for this question and it looks like a prayer and a “I am truly sorry” is in order?

I personally have never had this problem, so my first question would have to be, who was it that did not show?

If the pre-naming ceremony was not held or a blessing from Kiehtan (along with Creators name for the person in question) was not received, go for another time.

If it was anyone other than the Spiritual Leader, the person expecting the name, the person or persons standing in, and of course Kiehtan our Creator, the ceremony can continue if the group wish?

Looking for information on our Daily Native American Spiritual Practices?

The simple answer would be that we

pray, pray, pray and then pray some more.

We then go about the business of the day, just like you would.

Many of our ceremonies in this culture involve a Spiritual Leader, teaching people how to be Spiritual.

As soon as we finish our daily work we pray some more.

Remember that, in a Native American indigenous people tribe, prayer is a conversation with our Supreme Being, in my case this would be Kiehtan (Creator).

Is the real question, what are our Sacred Spiritual Ceremonies? Angry smile

Sacred Naming Protocol.

My first encounter with people that worship another god.

The Eastern Woodland Sacred Creator Blessed Paw~paus.

At a naming ceremony or any other Traditional Eastern Woodland Ceremony for that matter, a Spiritual leader will ask the couple if they wish a Sacred Paw~paus Creator included ceremony?

If, after explaining what that entails the couple say yes, from that point on preparations are being made for this type of a ceremony.

It no longer matters where or when it takes place, it is a Sacred ceremony that will be blessed by Creator!

When it comes time for the couple to pick their four corners ( four tribal clan mothers) and all other members of the gathering, the Spiritual leader will once again remind and explain to all that this is a Sacred Eastern Woodland Paw~paus ceremony.

Because of this it does not matter how a Witch, Warlock, Sorcerer, powwow, or any tribe performs a ceremony, this is a Paw~paus, if you have a problem please help the couple find your replacement.

If after the ceremony starts one 0r more of the corners walks away, they then show their true beliefs in their (God).

First and the most important thing would be to make sure that you are an American native, or correctly adopted, to find this out contact a Traditional  an elder.

The traditional way to make a request to receive your American Native name is to give a gift of herbs (Kinnick, Kinnick) as the request is made to the person you are requesting the name from ( Spiritual leader).

You and your family may also wish to plan a meal to celebrate after the ceremony is completed.

If  others are receiving their names, the covered dishes should be shared.

Present a gift of herbs from your left hand to the left hand of the individual you are wishing to receive a name from, this is called, heart to heart.

This person should be a person you respect and should be someone who is an American Native elder from the nation that you are requesting a name.

Personally ask if you may make a request of this person, either in person, by phone or e-mail or other.

Receive this individual’s consent to allow you to make a request.

at this time you may wish to honor a male and a female with this herb and request that they stand with you as sponsors at the ceremony.

These should be individuals that are familiar with that American Native Tribe and this sacred ceremony.

A naming ceremony should but not always be held in a prayer circle.

A Sacred Paw~paus is always held  in a Sacred circle with a fire, both of which must be properly prepared. (Honor the prayer circle with appropriate attire and attitudes.

Regalia should be worn if available, if not proper dress.

Give thanks to the Creator and all the sponsors.  One should NEVER have to pay for any American Native gift; If you do ,the gift will be void, and so will the ceremony!

Remember, our Creator gave the gifts freely and so should we, a gift like herbs or something native is permitted, and any gift can be permitted as long as it is freely given!

A Native American Soaugi (Funeral)

The Eastern Woodland American Native Memorial service.

A Native American Soaugi (Funeral).

The Eastern Woodland American Native Memorial service.

As stated while writing about Ceremonies, a memorial service (soaugi) is not a ceremony, it is a prayer, there are over 1500 tribe’s still in Indian Country however, as with these ceremonies, they all have some type of funeral arrangement.

Our memorial service is not like most of the funeral’s that I have attended throughout the years.

That is not saying anything good or bad, about any service.

If you care about and you tend to your loved ones, it is good.

This prayer service is in two parts, not counting any religious service that may take place before ours.

As a Spiritual leader, asked to care for the loved one, it is preferred to allow any other religion first, to help avoid any chance adding to the family’s grief.

The first part of our soaugi will be with all that wish to attend, recording is allowed.

The friendship pipe is passed around, after some short prayers with the loved one.

Not sure that everyone knows, you do not have to smoke or even put the pipe to your lips, if you wish just hold the pipe in your right hand and touch some part of the pipe with your left hand (you may or may not know that the left hand is closest to your heart), pray if you wish and pass to the next in line.

If you are not sure if you can or should stay for the complete service, please rethink this, our loved ones, while on the road with the ancestors to see Creator, are praying on that trip for your health and your future, we all need their prayers.

Very important, the 2nd part of the soaugi is in around our loved one, allow room for those that wish to join in with the Spiritual leader around the area and be respectful.

No recording please.

Native American mourning beliefs

Questions are also being asked as to mourning of a crossing loved one?

The people in our area will love and miss our loved ones, elders, and ancestors, until we cross to be with them however, a traditional of my people knows that Creator has called them home for a good reason so we must be pleased for their good fortune.

If you have not had a Soaugi for your loved one think about a Crossing Ceremony?
