Cauchegan Rock

Non-knowing people call it (Cochegan Rock) a name used soon after first contact by the British soldiers.

Have you ever read in schools about Shechaim Unkas (Sachem Uncas)?

Well have you ever read about a young bold warrior that Shechaim took under his wind and groomed to be the best war chief of that time?

Have you read or heard about the times our people had to fight off enemy tribes from taking our land, children, women, food and so on.

Well young warrior Cauchegan beat back the invaders many times and so became War Chief by our first leader.

War Chief Cauchegan’s old homestead.

Shechaim granted young Cauchegan his request to guard our prayer rock/look-out point and allowed him and his family to move on the land and build a village to help protect the tribes back from attacks along the Fox River.

It has come to our attention that people wish to profit from our writings?

Donna,( tahtonka.com) trained 8 years in college about indigenous people and has been working closely with our attorneys making sure that the rights to write and any/all would be income gets to our indigenous people.

One is always allowed to enjoy the writings, re-blog with credit, writing to profit is a direct insult to our ancestors.
