World War II veterans Joseph Van Eyzeren, left, and Donald Cobb walk through the Normandy American Cemeter

and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, on June 6.

Seventy-two years before, the two served on the same destroyer warship, the USS Murphy DD603, off the coast of Omaha Beach on D-Day.

The Greatest Generations Foundation, a non-profit created to preserve the stories of WWII veterans,

provided nine veterans, including Cobb and Van Eyzeren, the opportunity to return to the battlefields of France.
