Millions Have Watched This Video of a Police Officer Answering a Dispatch Call
A video of a Florida police officer answering a dispatch
call of kids “disrupting” the neighborhood
has viewers pleased with his positive reaction.
On Jan. 15, Officer Bobby White of the Gainesville Police Department in Gainesville, Florida,
responded to a complaint about kids playing basketball “loudly”
in the street around 5 p.m.,
Officer Ben Tobias of the department told ABC News today.
Officer White’s exchange with the kids was captured on his in-car dashboard camera.
“When he [White] approached the kids, the first thing he said was, ‘Could you believe that someone called to complain about kids playing basketball in the street?'” Tobias said. “Then he said, ‘I’ve got no problem with it.'”
Officer White, who’s been on the force for 8 years, proceeded to join the basketball game and later sent the video to Tobias, who often shares content on the department’s Facebook page.
The video has received over 5 million views since being posted online on Thursday.
“Speaking with him [White] last night after the video hit a million and 2 million views, he is just overwhelmed with support,” Tobias said. “It’s no secret that the larger conversation in America is of the treatment of citizens by police officers. We wanted people to know that in our community, that’s how we handle business.”
