Geothermal Energy

A modern way to heat, cool and power the country

using old equipment we like to call

Mother Earth!

The Earth’s total heat content has been calculated at 12.6 x 1024 megajoules,

which would meet the world’s current energy needs for several billion years.

Tapping a mere fraction of this energy resource could make

a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

Geothermal power plants have three components,

3 components

A reservoir,

A heat source

A turbine or generator that produces electricity.

There are also three types of geothermal power plants:

Dry steam plants

Flash steam plants

Binary cycle power plants

Environmental Impacts of Geothermal Energy

As with every type of work with machinery one must be able to use ones head while drilling?

There is lies the Rub!

Geothermal well drilling and plant operations can adversely affect geologic stability, triggering subsidence,

the sinking of land surfaces to lower levels, the raising of land to higher levels, sinkholes and earthquakes.
